Will my email keep working?
Moving your website doesn't move your email. Here's how to keep it that way.
Updated
Yes. Your email and your website are separate services that happen to share a domain name. Moving your website to Flagstage doesn't change where your email is delivered.
Why it's safe
Email delivery is controlled by its own DNS records (called MX records). When you connect your domain to Flagstage, you only add or change the records for your website. Leave your MX records exactly as they are.
The one thing to watch for
Some website builders bundle email with the website plan. If your email is provided by your old website builder, don't cancel that account until your email has been moved somewhere else, such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
How to check where your email lives
- Look at where you sign in to read email. If it's Gmail with your business address, it's probably Google Workspace. If it's Outlook, it's probably Microsoft 365.
- Check your registrar's DNS settings. MX records will name the email provider.
Not sure? Tell us your domain in your Inbox and we'll check for you before you change anything.
