Contact forms that don't lose leads

Many small business contact forms quietly drop messages. How to tell if yours is one of them, and what a dependable form looks like.

Here's an uncomfortable test: go to your website, fill out your own contact form, and see what happens. A surprising number of small business forms send messages into the void — to an old email address, a spam folder, or nowhere at all.

Why forms fail silently

  • They only send email. If the email bounces or lands in spam, the message is gone. Nothing was saved.
  • The destination address is outdated. The form still sends to the person who built the site.
  • The plugin broke. On many builders and content systems, a form depends on a plugin that stopped working after an update.
  • Spam protection is too aggressive. Real customers get blocked along with the bots.

What a dependable form does

  1. Saves every submission first. Before any email goes out, the message is stored somewhere you can look it up.
  2. Then notifies you. An email to the right person — or several people — for each form.
  3. Lets you export. A spreadsheet of every inquiry, for your records or your follow-up list.
  4. Connects to your other tools if you want. Sending a copy to your scheduling or CRM software, for example.
  5. Asks only what you need. Name, a way to reach them, and what they need. Every extra field costs you inquiries.

How Lead Forms work on Flagstage

That list is how we built Lead Forms, which is included on every plan. Every submission is saved before anything else happens, then emailed to whoever you choose for that form. You can review submissions, filter by form, and download them as a CSV from your Account. If you use other software, a form can also send each submission there automatically.

When we move your site in, we connect your existing forms so they keep working — no rebuilding required.

Test it monthly

Whatever you use, fill out your own form once a month. It takes thirty seconds, and it's the only way to be sure.
