Self-run software
Flagstage vs WordPress.
WordPress can do almost anything, if someone keeps it running. Flagstage replaces the running part: hosting, updates, plugins, and backups become our job, and your site becomes fast static pages.
| Topic | Flagstage | WordPress |
|---|---|---|
| Who makes changes | We do. You describe the change in plain words. | You do in the dashboard, or a developer does. |
| Upkeep | None for you. There are no plugins or core updates to apply. | Core, theme, and plugin updates, applied and tested regularly. |
| Hosting and HTTPS | Included, with the certificate issued and renewed for you. | Bought separately; quality and HTTPS setup depend on the host. |
| Before a change goes live | A private preview you approve. Nothing ships without it. | Possible with a staging site, if your host or developer sets one up. |
| Earlier versions | Every approved version saved as a complete site; going back is one request. | Depends on your backups and whether they restore cleanly. |
| Taking your site elsewhere | A full download after every update, in standard files any host can serve. | Fully portable, as a database plus files for another WordPress host. |
| Security exposure | Static pages: no login page, database, or plugins on your live site. | A login page, database, and plugins that need watching. |

Choosing
Which one fits you?
Choose WordPress if
- You need custom functionality that only a plugin or developer can provide.
- You have a developer you trust who keeps the site updated.
- You publish constantly and want to write in a dashboard yourself.
Choose Flagstage if
- You're tired of plugin update notices and surprise breakages.
- Your site is mostly pages, photos, and contact forms.
- You want hosting, HTTPS, updates, and changes handled under one flat price.
Switching
Moving off WordPress
We copy the public site, so we don't need your dashboard login. Contact forms from popular plugins are reconnected to Lead Forms.
How switching worksDo you need access to my WordPress admin?
No. We copy the pages visitors see. You'll need your domain registrar login when it's time to switch the address.
What happens to my plugins?
Your live site no longer runs them. What they produced on the page comes over as part of the copy, and contact forms are reconnected to Lead Forms.
Will my page addresses change?
We keep the same addresses wherever possible, so existing links and search results keep working.
Start with the site you already have.
Tell us where your website lives today. You'll create an Account next, and we'll start copying the real thing.
Moving in is included. Your current site stays up while we copy it.
